Modernization of aircraft L-39C to L-39M

The main purpose of the modernization is the creating of the combat aircraft MiG-29 and Su-27 "simulator" distinguishing this modernization from other versions of similar type aircraft modernizations.


 

The  main  purpose of the modernization  is the creating of the combat aircraft MiG-29 and Su-27 "simulator" distinguishing this modernization from other versions of similar type aircraft modernizations. For this purpose, the onboard training complex (BTK-39) is installed and at the same time the aircraft performance data has been improved. The trainer aircraft L-39M is the product of modernization of aircraft L-39C.

The improvement of performance data achieved due to the modernization of the engine Al-25TL to the version AI-25TLSh. These are: increasing of the thrust up to 1850 kg, decreasing of acceleration time by half at low and medium attitudes, enhancement of the power plant control (installation of the exhaust gases temperature regulating unit BRT).

 

 

 

 

Modernization  of aircraft  L-39C to  L-39M version makes provision for:

  • Installation of the flight data recorder BUR-4-1-07 instead of the SARPP-12GM;
  • extension of the aircraft assigned calendar service life up to 35 years;
  • installation of the angle of attack measuring and indication system;

The cockpit instrumentation (information field) of the L-39M is developed in so way to be similar to MiG-29 and Su-27 combat aircraft cabins by installation in cabins of the appropriate set of avionics to simulate the performance of the combat mission by fighter, thus making easier the conversion process of the pilot from the trainer aircraft to the combat one. The aircraft L-39M1 modernized according to this version allows not only to enhance the quality of flight training, but also make it possible to use it for combat training in air military units having fighters MiG-29 and Su-27 at their inventory.

Delivery of the saving flying simulators shall allow to keep the service life of the modernized and newly supplied fighters and attack aircraft as well as to save the fuel and operational costs for combat aircraft. Besides, both conversion to the aircraft with electronica cockpit instrumentation and skill maintenance is provided.

In whole, using the aircraft simulator in combat units for maintaining pilots flying and combat skills allows to shorten the expenses for pilots of MiG-29 - by 4 times, for Su-27 pilots - by 5 times. Besides, the question of modernizing the existing ground simulators to tail them to newly supplied foreign aircraft falls away. The more so it is more easier to create the new simulator, than to modernize the existing one.

It is the combination of the inexpensive computerized simulators with L-39 aircraft platform that allows to solve efficiently the task of conversion and training pilots to the 5th generation aircraft with modern electronic avionics.

Installation of the instrument air speed transmitters DAS and barometric altitude sensor DVbP-13 having better parameters;

Installation of the onboard training complex (BTK-39) Equipping the aircraft with on-board training complex BTK-39 allows to simulate operation of the sight-navigation complexes of aircraft type MiG-29 and Su-27, displaying of virtual aerial situation (availability of aerial targets) and simulation of the aircraft armament employment, precise navigation during en-route flight. The onboard training complex (BTK-39) includes:

-  pilot multifunctional indicatorMFI-1;

-  head-up display ILS-39;

-  combat modes control panel PUBR;

-  combat modes control panel PUBR;

-  satellite navigation system CH-3700-03;

-  air data unit MVP- 1V;

-  audio-video recording system SAVR-39;

Provision is made to control the aircraft according to HOTAS concept (Hands On Throttle And Stick).
