On August 26-28, the Ukrainian delegation, led by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleh Urusky, visited the Republic of Turkey and held work meetings with the host side. In addition to representatives of the Ministry, the delegation included: The Ambassador of Ukraine in the Republic of Turkey and representatives of the embassy, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, representatives of the State Concern “Ukroboronprom”, SE “Antonov”, SE “Ivchenko-Progress”, SE “Ukrspetsexport”, and other Ukrainian companies. “Spetstechnoexport” company was represented by Oleksiy Zaika, Director of Export.
The visit began on August 26 with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and proceeded with meetings with the Chairman of the State Agency for Defense Industry of the Republic of Turkey (SSB) Ismail Demir and leaders of prominent defense companies of Turkey (“Aselsan”, BMC, “Havelsan”, “Roketsan”, “Sarsilmaz”, TAI). On the same day, following official talks, the Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine and the State Agency for the Defense Industry of the Republic of Turkey.
The key purpose of the Memorandum is a further development of in-depth cooperation in the areas of modernization and joint production of UAVs, anti-tank missile systems, as well as the supply of Ukrainian-made aircraft engines for the latest aircraft platforms currently developed in Turkey.
The Memorandum is the next important step towards deepening cooperation between our countries in the military-technical sphere.
On August 27, meetings were held with the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Mustafa Varanka, and the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Hulusi Akar with the participation of the Turkish state defense industry company “MKEK” (Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation).
On August 28, the presentation of the Association of Defense industrial and aerospace enterprises of Istanbul "SAHA İSTANBUL Defense & Aerospace Cluster" and the "Istanbul" technology park was held.
During the visit, the Ukrainian delegation reviewed the production facilities of the aerospace corporation "Turkish Aerospace Industries", the companies "Roketsan", "Aselsan", and "Baykar Makina", visited the Sedef Shipyard and inspected the Anadolu assault ship.
Currently, SE SFTE "Spetstechnoexport" and the Republic of Turkey are implementing a number of joint projects. The key partner of “Spetstechnoexport” is the Turkish company “Aselsan”, the country's largest defense company. A number of bilateral projects have already been implemented with this company, the largest of which was the import of radio stations for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
