Enterprises of the defense complex of Ukraine have developed and mastered the production of electromagnetic weapons. These weapons are designed to destroy various types of military electronic means, including power supply systems and data transmission systems.
Given the high knowledge intensity and significant financial costs required to develop a new type of weapon, DGZP "Spetstechnoexport", which is part of the SC "Ukroboronprom", in 2014-2015 worked to find foreign partners who were willing to invest in Ukrainian development and concluded an agreement with a defense company from Asia. The attracted foreign funds were directed to the creation of scientific and technical documentation and production of prototypes.
According to the principle of operation, the new electromagnetic weapon creates powerful electromagnetic radiation, which leads to the failure of electronic equipment, which is part of the weapons and military equipment, or creates significant obstacles to its normal functioning.
"Through this work, Ukrainian scientists and developers have received the appropriate level of funding, which has allowed them to produce new knowledge and translate it into new cost-effective products. Also, thanks to this project, Ukraine has joined a closed club of states working to create highly effective electromagnetic weapons." - said Vladislav Belbas, director of the State Enterprise "Spetstechnoexport".
This type of weapon uses only the energy of electromagnetic radiation, so its action does not have a lethal effect on people, but can disable any equipment or infrastructure equipped with electronic systems. Electromagnetic munitions can be placed on both missile and aircraft carriers, including unmanned aerial vehicles.
In this way, new electromagnetic weapons can be used effectively against strategically important enemy targets, including command and administrative centers, communications centers, power plants, air defense facilities, etc., without the risk of harm to civilians.
It should be noted that in February 2019, the company "Spetstechnoexport" has already delivered to a foreign customer the first batch of a new type of weapon and is negotiating the supply of an additional batch of these products. At the same time, the defense enterprises of Ukraine are ready, in case of interest on the part of law enforcement agencies and the direction of the relevant order, to launch serial production of electromagnetic weapons for the Ukrainian army.
It should be noted that about 10% of its annual income, the company "Spetstechnoexport" receives from the implementation of research projects. In general, in 2018 the company fulfilled foreign trade contracts worth a total of 152.6 million dollars. USA, which is 27% more than in 2017. At the same time, in 2018, 148 new defense contracts were concluded for a record amount of $ 282.5 million over the last 5 years. USA. Significant growth was shown by both export and import areas of the enterprise.
